Meet Pastor Rob
Reverend Robert Ryland Shaw, II is the oldest son of Willa A. Shaw and the late Robert Shaw. A native of Kansas City, MO, Rev. Shaw accepted his call into the ministry at the young age of 16 and was ordained an Itinerant Elder in the Northwest Missouri Conference of the 5th Episcopal District, AME Church in 1997.
Rev. Shaw has prepared himself for ministry by receiving a Bachelor’s Degree in Marketing from Prairie View A&M University in Prairie View, TX; and a Master of Divinity Degree with an emphasis in Homiletics from Turner Theological Seminary of the Interdenominational Theological Center (ITC) in Atlanta, GA. It was during his matriculation at the ITC where he became the recipient of the Isaac Clark Preaching Award. In February of 2019, he was honored and inducted in the Turner Theological Seminary Alumni Hall of Fame.
Affectionately known as Pastor Rob, he has accumulated pastoral experience since the age of 18. He is the Former Pastor of Reedy Chapel, Springfield, MO and Brooks Chapel, Butler, MO; Former Youth Minister of St. John AME of Kansas City, MO, Former Special Assistant Minister of St. Philip AME Church of Atlanta, GA, and Former Pastor of Allen Chapel AME Church, Kansas City, MO, St. John AME Church, St. Louis, MO and Bethel AME Church of Kansas City, MO.
Pastor Rob has preached nationally and internationally while serving in various church, community, and civic positions. Pastor Rob is a proud member of Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity Inc. He is a past President for the Methodist Ministers’ Fellowship of the Greater Kansas City area, past President of the St. John Community Improvement Corporation; former Dean of the Board of Examiners of the Missouri Annual Conference and the Midwest Annual Conference, former CEO of the Vine Street Manor Housing Corporation.
In October 2017 under the Episcopal Leadership of Bishop Clement W. Fugh, Pastor Rob was assigned as the Pastor of Bethel AME Church, San Francisco, CA. He serves as Chair of the Board of Directors for the Fellowship Manor, Thomas Paine, Willa B. Kennedy, Rosa Parks and Laurel Gardens housing developments. He considers this opportunity a tremendous call to serve in the Kingdom of God.
He is happily married to the Rev. Ann Champion Shaw, his partner in life and ministry who serves as his full-time Assistant Pastor. They are the proud parents of Miss Raven Noel Lovelace Shaw and Master Robert Ryland Shaw, III. Above all, Pastor Rob humbly asks that you keep him in your prayers as he seeks to serve this present age. Led by the scriptural mantra of the parable of talents, Pastor Rob believes he has been blessed with five, and strives to bring back to God five more!!!! (Matt 25:14-29)
